BIOGRAPHY

Dominique Lang was born in 1966 in the land of Gustave Doré and Martin Schongauer.

When she is 13, she sees an extraordinary play by Carlo Gozzi, « The Green Bird », an imaginary story overflowing with masked and costumed characters evolving in wonderful scenery. This is the start of an artistic adventure for her.

She obtains her degree with distinction in stage design at the School of Fine Arts, then completes her training by studying theatre at Strasbourg University.

As of 1987, she works as a set decorator in the studios of the « Comédie de Saint-Étienne », at the Strasbourg National Theatre, and at the Strasbourg « Opéra du Rhin ».

At the same time, she creates and produces the sets and costumes for various shows : Rilke’s « The White Princess », Sophocle’s « Antigone », « Manège » : texts by Gogol and Cariagale,…

During solo, duo or group exhibitions, she introduces her own works which she stages herself.

She also holds visual art workshops for children and adults in various organisations (schools, leisure centres, etc.)

ARTISTIC APPROACH

Living in the heart of nature, beholding, browsing, and absorbing.

Exploring the infinitely tiny world, observing the cycle of the seasons in perpetual movement as well as the development and metamorphosis of each element.

Inspired by a wide variety of plant shapes, the drawing is transformed giving way to a world alive with human and animal forms.
